Lisha Kill Middle School Teachers/Staff Bike to School to Promote Healthy Living

UPK Lottery Registration Numbers Drawn

South Colonie has conducted it random drawing of lottery spaces for students eligible for the 2012-13 Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program. The lottery registration deadline was May 16 and the drawing was held on May 17. Lottery entrants should receive notification letters this week. South Colonie Residents Approve 2012-2013 District Budget, Elected Motto and Gigliello to Board of Education

South Colonie residents went to the polls today and approved the district budget for the 2012-2013 school year by a vote of 1,820-660, a 73-percent approval margin. They also elected newcomer Rose Gigliello to the Board of Education over challenger Christine Badger Mele by a vote of 1,103-974. Incumbent Leonard Motto, who ran unopposed, was also elected to a new five-year term on the school board with 1,526 votes. The new district budget totals $91,886,594 million and represents a 0.78 or less than 1 percent spending increase over the current year and a tax levy increase of approximately 2.6 percent, which is within New York State new tax cap limitation.

Emily FinneganCCHS Grad Crowned Tulip Queen For Second Straight Year

Colonie Central High School graduate, Emily Finnegan, was crowned Albany Tulip Queen Saturday during a coronation ceremony at Washington Park. She replaces another CCHS graduate, Karen Colehour, Class of 2006, who finished her reign the same day as 2011 Albany Tulip Queen. full story

New York State education officials and the teachers union reached an agreement on a new teacher evaluation system on Thursday, just hours before a deadline imposed by Gov. Andrew M.
